How Iwas Scam works

We help you make safer decisions by checking identifiers against community reports.

What we check

Enter an email address or phone number. We normalize it, hash it for privacy, and look up its status in our database. You'll get one of: Reported (N reports), No reports found, Report Expired — No Further Evidence Submitted, Under Review, or Unknown.

Where the data comes from

Results are built from community reports. Every report gets a short grace period so the reported party can respond, and every transition leaves an immutable audit trail.

Privacy & safety

We never store raw email addresses or phone numbers in plain text — lookups are keyed HMAC hashed. Public search results never expose reporter identities or report details, only a cautious status and report count. When data is unavailable, we return Unknown rather than a false "no reports".

Reporting a scam

Basic lookups don't require an account. To submit a report, sign in and tell us what happened. Every report enters a short grace period before going public, so the reported party can respond.

Hashed lookups

Your searches are never stored in plain text.

Fair dispute

Reported parties get a grace window to respond.

Community power

Protection that grows with every honest report.

Fails safe

We'd rather say “unknown” than guess.
